Project Description
_ICA Gallery
Art that tries to escape from the current way of conceiving it as a commodity, a product aimed and linked to money, that moves it away from the world of appearances to reconnect with its primordial nature of pure, free and changeable expression, whose strength lies in what it says much more than in the way it appears.
This founding philosophy finds expression in the choice of the image that the ICA Gallery wants to restore: simple, bare, almost poor. The rudimentary pride of a place that shows that it does not need surface retouching to enrich that which it welcomes and contains.
The very lack of an entrance in from the street serves to reinforce this idea, allowing entry only from the courtyard of the old factory from which the ICA Gallery was created.
The 700 square meters of ICA Gallery’s structure are spread over two floors, branching off into corridors and large rooms that house works of all kinds: photography, sculpture, painting, literature, cinema. The walls of ICA Gallery welcome the exchange of cultures and languages, inserted within a broader project of “ecological art”, intended as a production using only recyclable materials and a whirlwind flow of inspiration.
A virtuous circle of returning to the essence of things, to the bare and solid foundations of beauty. Just like its architecture: simple, unadorned, but for this very reason capable of bringing out the uniqueness of what it hosts even more.
